Loudly shrieked my soul on winter’s night, cold and sad,
As I shook, with guilt of crime from months before now.
Looking for some end of guilt, my lids soon sank fast
Into sleep, and evil platform for a false bliss--
Punishment would greet me, and to it I would bow.
I would go into the Abyss.
Darkly visions did consume me, did perfume me
With their demons, reaching, screeching to me with glee.
Beckoning, they gave me picture drawn by my hand--
Traitor’s ticket to their hell; picture, Judas’s kiss.
Here the demons wrote my sins; I easily see
Ticket signed, “Into the Abyss.”
Weeping, I took this condemning note so evil, shameful
And I bowed, ready for the demon’s painful torture.
How the demons night creates make sleep a death-trap;
Each night fearing death anew, dreams all gone amiss!
Ev’ry night another leg on this journey’s map
Sinking there into the Abyss.
Lo! A bolt of fire came with voice of true desire;
Lovingly, it burned my ticket into Hell’s gates.
“You are my love, you are my bride, you are my child!”
Said he, “If you go to Abyss, you I’ll miss.”
Turning, weeping, my heart leaping with love so wild,
I cast my ticket into the Abyss.
